Build a whole-person wellness app
Build a wellness experience focused on healthspan rather than a single diagnosis. Bring together a person's sleep, movement, nutrition, stress, and recovery reflections, then pair the digital journey with a coach who can help them set realistic goals and review progress.
1. Start with the person and their goals
Let people choose what they want to work on and how they want a coach involved. Establish consent and explain what data is collected, how it is used, and what will be visible to the coach. Keep goals personal and revisitable instead of treating a single score as a complete picture of health.
2. Collect data from more than one source
Use @ovok/native for the mobile experience and @ovok/core for shared Ovok API and FHIR workflows. Combine supported device or wearable measurements with short self-reported check-ins for areas such as nutrition, stress, and recovery that may not be directly measured by a connected device.
Represent structured measurements as FHIR Observation resources and use questionnaires or equivalent structured responses for check-ins. Preserve the source, time, and context so a coach can distinguish a sensor reading from a person's reflection.
3. Give the person a useful feedback loop
Show trends over time and help people connect their own routines with their stated goals. Use clear language, explain missing data, and allow corrections when a reading or check-in is inaccurate. Avoid presenting a wellness score as a diagnosis or a substitute for clinical advice.
4. Pair digital tracking with a coach
Create a coach view that summarizes progress, recent check-ins, and topics the person has chosen to discuss. Let the coach and person agree on the next small action together. Make sharing controls visible so the person understands what the coach can see.
5. Route vital signs to Signals
When Signals is enabled, supported vital-sign readings are sent to Signals for alert evaluation, and Ovok surfaces the resulting decisions to the appropriate workflow. A non-clinical wellness product can opt out. Lifestyle goals and self-reported wellness reflections remain distinct from vital-sign alert decisions.
6. Roll out with trust and transparency
Test data permissions, consent withdrawal, wearable disconnects, time-zone changes, and coach access. Start with a small group of people and coaches, learn which summaries support useful conversations, and refine the experience without overstating what the data can conclude.
