# Patient

Canonical page: https://docs.ovok.com/python-sdk/namespaces/patient

`ovok.patient` reads the FHIR data a patient app needs: appointments, schedules and slots,
measurements, care plans, questionnaires, devices and notifications. Each is a FHIR search
returned as a plain list.

## List upcoming appointments [#list-upcoming-appointments]

```python
from ovok_sdk import Ovok
ovok = Ovok("https://api.sandbox.ovok.com", "your-tenant")
ovok.auth.login(profile_type="Patient", email="patient@example.com", password="password")
appointments = ovok.patient.appointments.list({"date": "ge2026-01-01", "_sort": "date"})
```

`appointments` also creates and updates Appointments. `schedules` and `slots` list only;
`measurements`, `care_plans`, `questionnaires`, `questionnaire_responses`, `devices` and
`notifications` list and `retrieve` by ID.

## Load a dashboard [#load-a-dashboard]

`dashboard` loads the signed-in profile, the latest Observations, the measurement history
and the care plans in one call. Each search is scoped to the signed-in patient unless you
pass a `patient` parameter.

```python
dashboard = ovok.patient.dashboard({
    "measurement_history": {"_count": 20, "_sort": "-date"},
})
profile = dashboard["profile"]
```

## Read the latest Observations [#read-the-latest-observations]

```python
latest = ovok.patient.latest_observations({"patient": "Patient/patient-id", "max": 1})
```

For writes and other resource types, use [`ovok.fhir`](/python-sdk/namespaces/fhir). To save readings, use
[`ovok.measurements`](/python-sdk/namespaces/measurements).
