# Locales

`ovok.locales` reads and updates the languages the project offers. Use
[`ovok.localizations`](/python-sdk/namespaces/localizations) for the strings in each language.

## Read and update the project's locales [#read-and-update-the-projects-locales]

from ovok_sdk import Ovok

ovok = Ovok("https://api.sandbox.ovok.com", "your-tenant")
locales = ovok.locales.retrieve()
ovok.locales.update({"defaultLocale": "de"})
