# VALIDATION_FAILED

Canonical page: https://docs.ovok.com/errors/validation-failed

**HTTP 422.** Problem type: [`https://docs.ovok.com/errors/validation-failed`](https://docs.ovok.com/errors/validation-failed).

## What this means [#what-this-means]

The request was understood, but one or more submitted values failed validation. This differs from a malformed request: the endpoint could parse the request, then rejected its content.

## Troubleshooting [#troubleshooting]

Inspect each entry in `errors`. Use `field` to find the affected property or resource path, `code` to identify the machine-readable reason, and `params` for optional constraint values. Check required fields, expected value types, formats, and documented constraints; correct only the affected values while preserving valid data. The API returns at most 100 field errors, so a large request may need more than one correction pass.

## Retry safely [#retry-safely]

Fix the reported values and submit the corrected request. Do not branch application behavior on the human-readable `detail` string; use `type`, `status`, and the nested field error codes. Repeating unchanged values will produce the same validation failure.

## If the problem persists [#if-the-problem-persists]

Share the HTTP status, problem `type`, request path, response timestamp, and `traceId` with your administrator or support contact. Do not include access tokens or sensitive patient data. The [Error responses guide](/errors) explains the response fields and field-level errors.
