# UNSUPPORTED_MEDIA_TYPE

Canonical page: https://docs.ovok.com/errors/unsupported-media-type

**HTTP 415.** Problem type: [`https://docs.ovok.com/errors/unsupported-media-type`](https://docs.ovok.com/errors/unsupported-media-type).

## What this means [#what-this-means]

The request body uses a media type the endpoint does not accept. This concerns the format of the content you send, rather than the format you asked the server to return.

## Troubleshooting [#troubleshooting]

Inspect the request's `Content-Type` header and compare it with the endpoint documentation. Confirm that the serialized body matches that media type and that the header was not inherited from a different request. For example, JSON text should not be labeled as a different body format. Use `Accept` guidance separately for response format errors.

## Retry safely [#retry-safely]

Set `Content-Type` to a documented media type and send a body encoded in that format. Do not resend the same body under a guessed content type; see [not acceptable](/errors/not-acceptable) for errors about the requested response representation.

## If the problem persists [#if-the-problem-persists]

Share the HTTP status, problem `type`, request path, response timestamp, and `traceId` with your administrator or support contact. Do not include access tokens or sensitive patient data. The [Error responses guide](/errors) explains the response fields and field-level errors.
