# INTERNAL_ERROR

Canonical page: https://docs.ovok.com/errors/internal-error

**HTTP 500.** Problem type: [`https://docs.ovok.com/errors/internal-error`](https://docs.ovok.com/errors/internal-error).

## What this means [#what-this-means]

Ovok encountered an unexpected failure while processing the request. The response may not explain the internal cause; the `traceId` helps an administrator locate the corresponding server-side record.

## Troubleshooting [#troubleshooting]

Record the HTTP status, problem `type`, request path, response timestamp, and `traceId`. Before repeating a write or other state-changing operation, read the affected resource or check the operation's documented status because the response alone may not tell you whether the change took effect.

## Retry safely [#retry-safely]

For an operation that is safe to repeat, make a small number of attempts with a delay between them. Avoid tight retry loops. If the error persists, stop retrying until the issue is understood.

## If the problem persists [#if-the-problem-persists]

Share the HTTP status, problem `type`, request path, response timestamp, and `traceId` with your administrator or support contact. Do not include access tokens or sensitive patient data. The [Error responses guide](/errors) explains the response fields and field-level errors.
